About the project
A cross-institute project has been developed at Clausthal University of Technology that revolves around electric scooters (e-scooters).
The starting point for the motivation is the idea of placing the e-scooter at the center of teaching and research activities as a visual and experiential object and thus providing students and doctoral candidates with a real object on which they can work on specific issues. There are no prohibitions on thinking. This is also reflected in the participating institutes and the respective issues. Six institutes have already taken part in this project.
The Executive Board of Clausthal University of Technology has provided a start-up budget to support the project. For example, e-scooters can be successively procured, integrated into the system and tested. The vision is to set up an independent sharing system with up to 15 e-scooters at Clausthal University of Technology over the next few years. This sharing system will initially be tested with university employees. In future, the winter semesters will be used to further develop the concepts and carry out modifications, maintenance and repairs to the vehicles before they are put back on the road in the summer months (May-September).

To ensure the broadest possible research approach, the vehicle fleet was not limited to models from one manufacturer. The selection of models made available is intended to provide as comprehensive a picture as possible of the state of the technology on offer, which the students can use to try things out.
